Abstract

At present, a negative view of socialism as an idea and as a political course dominates Russian public opinion. True, occasionally one hears about "decent" social democracy, but most often people view it as something alien, with roots only in the West and unsuited for Russia. It is difficult to dispute the absence of democratic socialism in Russia's past. But the question is: will there be a place for socialism in the future? Before we attempt to answer this question, we should probe more deeply into the essence of the crisis of socialism.
