Abstract

Based on the literature and experimental data, the most informative biomarkers of lead exposure in chronic intake with diet in the organism of the sheep. The choice of biomarkers of exposure was based on the mechanism of action of lead and the regularities of income distribution, accumulation and elimination from the orgsnism, as well as the specificity, sensitivity and informative value of laboratory parameters. Comparative analysis of biomarkers of effect of lead on the criteria of specificity, sensitivity, information content and complexity allows to highlight the following several laboratory parameters: the activity of δ-ALAD in peripheral blood > the contents of metallothioneins in peripheral blood lymphocytes > the content of SH groups in plasma of peripheral blood. Of the above biomarkers of effect are reversible, which reduces their information content. At the same time of biomarkers of exposure considered priority lead concentrations in the peripheral blood. Scientific justification for critical limits of lead exposure for mammals is focused on the estimation of the dependence of the biological effects from its concentration in the peripheral blood. Therefore, the most informative biomarkers of exposure are the activity of δ-ALAD and the concentration of the metal in the peripheral blood.
