Abstract

The paper aims to reveal specificity of rhythm formation in the chapter “To Irkutsk” of I. A. Goncharov’s book of essays “Frigate «Pallada»”. The article identifies features of rhythmical and ornamental prose, reveals rhythm-formative principles typical of Goncharov’s works. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that relying on an analysis of the writer’s creative work, the researcher for the first time identifies rhythm-formative principles in the book “Frigate «Pallada»” by the material of the chapter “To Irkutsk”. As a result, it is proved that using a wide range of literary techniques, the writer creates a multi-rhythmic piece; new rhythm-formative means appear, not observed in his previous works. It promotes complication of the rhythm function.
