Abstract

Within the framework of a numerical model of a three-layer ocean with a depth of layers corresponding to average oceanic conditions, a study of the evolution of large-scale circulation under the action of a stationary inhomogeneous external vorticity flow simulating the effect of wind has been carried out. The experiments were carried out using an explicit time integration scheme with constant dissipation parame-ters, the characteristic time scales of long-period oscillations of the flow energy were analyzed, the nature of the variability of the kinetic energy of the upper layer was revealed, the average values of the flow velocity in the upper layer were analyzed, the characteristic vorticity fields for each of the three layers were given.
