Abstract

In this study, eight sessions of self-awareness promotion programs and one follow-up session were provided to six married female office workers in Chungcheongnam-do. One-on-one, in-depth interviews about their experiences were conducted with program participants. The interviews were analyzed based on Giorgi (2004) 's research and analysis method based on phenomenology. From the analysis, seven themes were emerged including “interpersonal stress”. “interpersonal stress” and “vicious cycle” mutually affect each other, leading to “short encounters like an oasis.” Through the “short encounters like an oasis,” “self-awareness experience” could occur, and “self-awareness experience” directly affects “mind and body relaxation.” “new me, a different-looking world,” and “daily life changed by self-awareness” In addition, the above three themes were directly affected by the “self-awareness experience.” The interaction among the three themes was identified as the structure of experiences that directly affect “daily life changed by self-awareness.” Further discussion based on the findings was stated.
