Abstract

Purpose In the traditional market, which is having difficulties due to changes in consumption trends resulted from the opening of the distribution market and the increase in dual-income households, we intend to derive plans to revitalize the traditional market by applying business TRIZ, which is widely used as a creative problem-solving method. Methods This study derives solution principle and new ideas for revitalizing traditional markets by applying problems to the business TRIZ research model based on data that identified the problems hindering the vitalization of traditional markets and the fundamental causes of these problems through a survey of merchants operating stores in traditional markets. Results In this study to plan a traditional market revitalization using a survey on traditional market merchants and business TRIZ, the solution principles for deriving ideas were “Self-service” and “Property change”. Conclusion In business TRIZ, “small packaging product development”, “point accumulation system”, “core store nurturing”, “meal kit product activation”, “package product”, “combination of cultural products”, “Tourism product linkage”, “experience program”, and “shared marketing (sales, publicity, delivery, workshop)” were derived as soultions for revitalizing traditional markets.
