Abstract

The purpose of this study was to understand the influence of motivation to participate in the culinary competition on the sense of psychological well-being and employment preparation behavior of culinary majoring students. Based on total 345 samples obtained from empirical research, this study reviewed the reliability and fitness of the research model and verified a total of 16 hypotheses using the AMOS program. The hypothesized relationships in the model simultaneously were tested by using a structural equation model (SEM). The proposed model provided an adequate fit for the data, χ²=1,081.905(p<.001), df=505, CMIN/DF=2.142, NFI=.889, TLI=.930, CFI=.937, RMSEA=.058. The models fit, as indicated by these indexes, was deemed satisfactory, thus providing a good basis for testing the hypothesized paths. The SEM showed that the relational motivation to participate in culinary competition had a positive significant influence on psychological well-beings. Also, psychological well-beings had a remarkably impact upon employment preparation behavior. The moderating effects on college and vocation training institute do seem to exist. Limitations and future research directions are also discussed.
