Abstract

e purpose of this study is to investigatethe trends in case study within the field of educational administration using keyword network analysis. A total of 198 case study articles in the field of educational administration that were published in Korean Journal of Educational Administration, The Journal of Korean Teacher Education, The Journal of Politics of Education, The Journal of Economics and Finance of Education, and Korean Journal of Educational Research between 2003 and 2022 were examined. To analyze, the main research method used in the case study and the research design were analyzed based on the analysis framework, and the main keywords were analyzed using the keyword network analysis method. The main research findings are as follows. First, in terms of research methods, qualitative methods were the most commonly utilized research approach, accounting for 87% of the studies examined. Second, single case studies constituted the largest proportion, representing 73% of the analyzed articles. Third, according to the keyword network analysis, the identified keywords varied across different time period, mainly reflecting the prevailing issue of each period. Also, even with the same keyword, the words connected to each other changed little by little depending on the period. In the period from 2003 to 2012, no particular keywords had high centrality and research themes were diversely distributed. In the period from 2013 to 2033, the centrality for leadership appeared high suggesting an active focus on related case studies.
