Abstract

This article focuses on the utilization of microwave fields in installations for drying, pre-sowing treatment, and grain disinfection to enhance productivity and reduce energy consumption. The study examines the design of semi-circular waveguides with slotted radiators for the uniform distribution of microwave fields in a dense grain layer. Additionally, the research investigates the influence of grain moisture on the efficiency of microwave-convective installations. Using the CST Microwave Studio software, the effect of moisture on the distribution of microwave fields in the grain layer and energy transmission efficiency was investigated. The results showed that as the moisture content of the processed grain increased from 14 % to 26 %, the radiation efficiency decreased by 15.1 %, and the overall radiation efficiency decreased. Moisture variation also leads to changes in the characteristics of radiation efficiency with changes in the magnetron emission frequency.
