Abstract

This article is devoted to the study of the concepts of “left” and “right” based on the material of Russian and Spanish vocabulary (including slang), phraseology and paremiology. For the first time, a comprehensive semantic comparative study of this opposition was carried out, reflecting the peculiarities of the perception of linguistic pictures of Spanish and Russian. The author analyses the etymology of words, methods of presentation in lexicographic practice, the causes of the occurrence of secondary evaluation values of language units. The conclusions of the article can be used for various kinds of comparative work.
