Abstract

The author defines self-control as a substantial factor in piano playing by future music teachers. The article clarifies main functions of self-control and peculiarities of its formation that would improve the quality of piano training.Self-control is defined as a means of getting the right expedient skills, so to say "an ability to construct skills". Due to the increase in the volume of students’ independent work during musical and instrumental training, there is a need to pay attention to the formation of the so-called preparatory self-control in future specialists (activating attention in undesirable hearing and motoric deviations, overcoming these deviations) that is a key component of the other types of self-control, i.e. current and final. This aspect reveals the novelty of the article, which allows us to explore the range of self-control functions, and at the same time to regard it as a holistic capability to execute a wide range of psychological actions that require to evaluate motoric, aural and visual senses.The author offers a stack of exercises for future music teachers to enhance self-control in the process of piano training. These exercises are related to the student’s consciousassessment and regulation of tactile, motoric and muscle tone means in accordance with the performer’s concept.
