Abstract

This study examined the mediating effects of cognitive emotion regulation strategies between child counselor’s intolerance of uncertainty and psychological burnout. The subjects of the study were 216 child counselors, and the collected data was analyzed using SPSS 26.0 and PROCESS Macro. As a result of the study, first, adaptive and maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation had the significant partial mediating effect on the relationship between the intolerance of uncertainty and psychological burnout. Second, as a result of verifying mediating effect on the cognitive emotion regulation classifying novice and expert child counselors based on 3 years, novice group’s adaptive and maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation had the significant partial mediating effect on the relationship between the intolerance of uncertainty and psychological burnout. On the other hand, in the case of expert group, only maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation had the significant partial mediating effect. This study tried to find counselor factors that affect psychological burnout of child counselors. Finally, the limitations and suggestions for future study were discussed.
