Abstract

The work presents the results of numerical simulation of the process of levitation melting of metal in an electromagnetic field. The developed model reflects the retention of the heated sample in a state of stable levitation. Based on the constructed model, a study of the levitation melting process was carried out, taking into account the technical characteristics of the laboratory equipment. During the experiments, the zone of stable levitation of the sample with the specified parameters in the alternating electromagnetic field was determined. The efficiency of the obtained numerical model and its suitability for use as part of a real-time technological process control system for melting were evaluated.
