Abstract

The paper discusses political, economic and socio-cultural conditions for the development and implementation of the Moscow state university ensemble in Vorobyevy (Lenin) Gory. The purpose of the work is to reveal the sociocultural significance of the Moscow State University ensemble (1949–1953) as the result of the impact of historically related factors, as well as specific circumstances that have arisen in post-war Soviet society. The basis of the study is a systemic approach, combining analysis and synthesis methods, in which the essential features and properties of the Moscow State University ensemble are considered as an object of cultural heritage. This problem is relevant in the modern discussions arising from various approaches to the theory and practice analysis of architectural and urban planning activities of the mid-20th century. The set of factors that contributed to the formation of the new Moscow State University complex was not given due consideration in philosophical and cultural discourse. The problem is studied based on the research materials of historians, cultural scientists and philosophers involved in the analysis of the domestic architecture development in the 20th century. The source base is memoir literature. The author offers his conclusions about the factors influenced the process of development and implementation of the project of Moscow state university architectural ensemble.
