Abstract
The author reveals historical roots of the theoretical and methodological innovations established in contemporary thematical historiography, characterizes the conditions for the formation of Soviet historiography of the civil war in the 1920s – the first half of the 1930s, characterizes the main historiographical developments related to the problem of political education in the Red Army in 1918–1922.
