Abstract

The purpose of this work was to study crocus cultivars and assess their decorative qualities using the developed methodology of small bulbous plants variety study for their use in landscaping. In the years 2021-2023, the research was conducted with bulbous plants collection belonging to the FRC SSC RAS and growing on the experimental plots in Razdolnoye village (Sochi). The objects of research were 20 crocus cultivars. As a result of the conducted research the cultivar groups were identified by flowering terms: early, which begin to flower in late January - early February for 'Fuscotinctus', 'Miss Vain' and 'Orange Monarch'; middle (from the second ten-day period of February) for 'Golden Yellow', 'Cream Beauty' and others; late (from the first ten-day period of March) for 'Jeanne d’Arc', 'Queen of the Blue' and others. Cultivars recorded with a flowering period of more than 35 days: 'Golden 'Yellow', 'Blue Pearl' and 'Fuscotinctus'. Cultivars with high rates of flowering productivity (more than 700 %): ‘Blue Pearl’, ‘Fuscotinctus’, ‘Golden Yellow’.
