Abstract

Western scholars and Orientalists are trying their best to make doubtful the universal and eternal system of Islam in the minds of the world since dawn. One of their doubts is the slave’s rights in Islam. William Montgomery Watt and Robert Spencer make great mistake in their Quran commentaries to presume that all conduct and practices of a Muslim are connected to Islam. The prime object of this study is to pick out how rights of slaves are ensured in Islam. This research is actually qualitative in nature and analytical method is also used in this research. Data has been collected from Holy Qur’an exegesis, Hadiths, various books and journals. However, it is concluded by this research that the problem of slavery is not a problem created by Islam, but it has been going on since ancient times. Slavery was very difficult to eradicate for a number of reasons, so Islam indirectly changed it in such a way that it became a great human benefit instead of a serious social evil. Islam assures all types of rights to slaves and provides a high status to them as compare to other religions.
