Abstract
20% of the world’s forest resources are concentrated in Russia, which is an essential prerequisite for the country’s leadership in this industry. The paper presents the state of the Russian timber industry based on the analysis of financial indicators. A significant aspect is the sanctions regime, which has worsened the indicators of the development of the complex. In these conditions, modernization is required taking into account external and internal factors. A number of measures that can improve the condition of the timber industry were discussed.
