Abstract

This article discusses the result of a survey of 47 graduate students of the S. Tentishev Asian Medical Institute (AzMI) following the result of an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) which manner of assessing the clinical skills of all students. The final practical exam was taken sequentially every day to all students for three days, in each group of discipline (Therapy and Pediatrics, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology). Fifteen OSCE stations were developed in accordance with the competencies that should be formed as a result of teaching the disciplines of Therapeutical, Surgical and Obstetric & Gynecological cycle in the speciality of "Medicine". An overwhelming number of students rated the OSCE as an honest, transparent, reliable and less stressful method for assessing the clinical competencies of medical students. The OSCE can be used in combination with other traditional methods to assess the development of students' practical skills.
