Abstract

The research objective includes identifying the most efficient manipulative communicative strategies and tactics in D. Trump’s and H. Clinton’s presidential campaign discourse. The article provides a brief survey of the existing views on the phenomenon of manipulative verbal influence. Scientific originality of the paper lies in the fact that the authors consider impact of manipulative strategies and tactics of pre-election discourse on a voter’s electoral choice. The conclusion is made that the verbal means of manipulative influence used by D. Trump turned out to be more efficient.
