Abstract

Purpose: justification and development of a layout and design solution for a fish passing lock, arranged as part of the Bagaevsky waterworks facility on the river Don. Materials and methods. The factual basis for the Bagaevsky fish passing lock design development was the original fish breeding, topographical and hydrological materials on the waterworks and the author's development of fish ladders as part of river waterworks. Results. In the domestic practice of passing anadromous fish through the water front of river waterworks facilities, fish-passing locks have been used. This structure with a horizontal lock chamber is provided for by the project of the Bagaevsky waterworks on the river Don. Taking into account the conditions of the waterworks, the design of a fish-passing lock with a continuous process of fish attraction and storage is proposed. The lock is proposed to be located between the flood spillway dam and the spillway-regulator, which will ensure the entry of fish migrating along the boundary zone of the flow discharged through the regulator. The design of the lock provides for the device of a fish storage flume, a lock chamber, two operating and two repair gates, an incentive device, a fish outlet flume, the main and optional power supply units, and an ichthyological platform. The dock structure of the lock has a clear width of 10 m with a total length of 118. m. The height of the flume is assumed to be variable from 7.5 m at the entrance to the fish holding tank to 6.5 m in the lock chamber and in the fish exit section line. The continuity of the supply of attracting flow to the fish storage and to its entrance (for fish) opening is ensured by a system of holes in the side walls of the fish storage flume. Conclusion. A layout and design solution for a fish-passing lock is presented, which ensures a continuous process of fish attracting and storage and arranged under the conditions and as part of the Bagaevsky waterworks on the river Don.
