Abstract

The aim of the research is to substantiate that studying the characteristics of the family situation surrounding the development of young children with various developmental disorders by conducting a questionnaire survey of parents increases the effectiveness of psychological and pedagogical support. The paper presents the theoretical foundations of a questionnaire study; an author’s questionnaire was developed on the basis of long-term counselling of families raising children with developmental disorders; the results of conducting a questionnaire survey of parents raising young children with various developmental disorders are being analysed. Scientific novelty of the study lies in selecting and analysing the characteristics of the family system of a child with developmental disorders during the first years of life that are significant for psychological and pedagogical support. As a result, it has been found that the needs (request) and resource capabilities of the family should be taken into account when developing a strategy of providing support for the child and his/her family to increase the effectiveness of early intervention.
