Abstract

The article presents the challenge of improving the efficiency of pneumatic tires for self-propelled underground mining machines. The absence of manufacturers of large-size tires in Russia is noted. A brief description of mining machines and requirements to their tires are presented. It is established that tires need to be designed for specific operating conditions and with due account of the equipment they will be used with. Examples of challenges in operation of pneumatic tires on mining machines are given. Withdrawal of famous brands from the Russian market, that internally developed regulations on tire selection in order to protect their brands and improve the product quality, revealed the problem of insufficient regulatory framework for rational selection of tires for mining machines. In this connection, the urgency is growing to create a domestic standardized approach to the selection of tires for mining machines depending on the operating conditions and the type of the mining machine, that should become a national standard. In conclusion, it is noted that the lack of a standardized approach to the selection of pneumatic tires for mine machines leads to economic losses of mining enterprises.
