Abstract

The work is devoted to the study of traditional means of transport of the indigenous population of Altai (Altai and Kazakhs) at the beginning of the twentieth century. Based on photographs by S. I. Borisov from the collection of the Altai State Museum of Local Lore. Land and water transport are distinguished and characterized. Questions are raised about the advantage and disadvantage of using photography as an ethnographic source.
