Abstract

The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of amniotic membrane implantation in macula ruptures. The study included 86 eyes with a macular tear greater than 400 µm. The technique of implantation of the amniotic membrane in case of macular ruptures provides anatomical success in 96.51 % of cases and functional success in 91.86 % of cases. Macular rupture as a complication of vitreomacular traction syndrome was the least favorable prognostic situation compared to traumatic (p < 0.01) and myopic ruptures (p < 0.05). Keywords: macular rupture, vitreoretinal surgery, amniotic membrane, anatomical and functional success
