Abstract

Рurpose. Comparative evaluation of various methods for studying the “quality of life” (QoL) of a patient with visually stressful work (VLT) in cataract surgery. Material and methods. Under our supervision there were 46 patients with VLT aged 39 to 61 years with the presence of binocular cataract. All patients underwent standard cataract phacoemulsification (PEC) according to the standard technique. All patients were operated on by one surgeon (D.F. Pokrovsky). The operation on the second eye was performed 7–10 days after the first surgical intervention. The study of QоL was performed before and one month after the operation on the second eye according to the following questionnaires “Catquest-9SF”, “QоL-25”, “FEK-22”. Results. The data obtained indicate that the highest increase in QoL after FEC is observed according to the “FEC-22” questionnaire compared to the “Catquest-9SF” and “QoL-25” questionnaires (by 7,4–13,6 %, p < 0,05). Conclusion. The “FEC-22” questionnaire, which differs (in the process of development) from its analogues by the use of a “social model” of health and the active participation of ophthalmologists, can be recommended for the wide clinical practice of cataract surgery. Keywords: cataract phacoemulsification, “quality of life”, “social model” of health, international classification of functioning.
