Abstract

This paper presents the study on a cable structure to minimize gate signal distortion in a high-voltage pulsed power modulator. The distortion according to the structure of the cable for transmitting the control signal to the pulse transformer type gate circuit was measured and compared. The structure of the signal cable was compared with the two structures in parallel and orthogonal to the discharge loop through which high potential and large current flows. The experiment was conducted under conditions of 15 kV, 40 A pulse output. As a result of measuring the current waveform of each structure, it was verified that the distortion was at least 5 times less than that of the parallel structure when configured in a form orthogonal to the discharge loop.
