Abstract

The digital transformation taking place all over the world has an impact not only on the development of society and the economy, but also, in particular, on educational processes. In this regard, the formation and integration of digital knowledge, skills and abilities is a necessary element of the professional training of future specialists. In tourism, as one of the most informationally developed areas of the economy, digital transformation is a prerequisite for achieving high competitiveness. With the development of digitalization in the tourism sector, not only management processes are changing, but also the needs of tourists. Therefore, today the industry needs specialists who are able to meet the needs of the tourism market in order to achieve a digital advantage. It can be said that education in the field of tourism today determines the direction of development of the industry, and university graduates who possess in-demand digital competencies become a strategic asset of travel enterprises. This article discusses the strategic problem of modern education – the formation of digital competencies among university students engaged in professional training for the tourism industry. The prerequisites of the need for the formation of digital competencies among future employees of the tourism industry have been studied, the issue of the use of digital technologies in the education system has been analyzed, and the digital competencies in demand for the tourism industry have been identified. The key digital literacy skills that students need to develop in order to better understand the changing, digitally oriented environment of the tourism industry are identified. Within the framework of the federal program "Priority 2030", digital transformation has been identified as one of the priorities of the university, providing for the development and implementation of new educational programs, digital technologies and platforms for effective management of the educational process. As a result, recommendations have been developed for the formation of digital competencies among students using new educational technologies and a training model has been proposed that takes into account the need for digitalization skills and knowledge among future employees of the tourism and hospitality industry
