Abstract

The study presents an analysis of the activity of representatives of the indigenous peoples of the North in the framework of the presence of public associations and non-profit organizations (using the quantitative method) and an assessment of the level of financial support for indigenous peoples’ organizations in the regional competitions of socially oriented projects. The geography of study is the Far East of Russia consisting of nine subjects. A high level of ethnic cohesion, the need to preserve a unique way of life, culture, self-identification among the indigenous peoples, the activity of the indigenous peoples’ representatives in the creation of public organizations are established. The financial support of indigenous non-profit organizations by state authorities in the framework of regional competitions of socially oriented projects in the subjects of the Far East is very differentiated and largely depends on the financial condition of the region, the share of indigenous peoples in the ethnic structure of the population. Nevertheless, the amounts allocated to support non-profit organizations of the indigenous peoples are very insignificant and absolutely do not provide a high level of presence of public associations and non-profit organizations of the indigenous peoples in the Far East.
