This article analyzes the factors reflecting socio-economic inequality in the Russian Federation, the subjective perception of such a situation by citizens, as well as political practices that arise against the background of inequality. The authors hypothesizes that high economic inequality is transformed into social tension, which forms a demand in civil society for political modernization.
