Abstract
The article examines the issue of persecution of the Russian Orthodox Church in North Ossetia using the case of the Vladikavkaz Cathedral as an example. Based on the first published documentary sources, the mechanism of pressure exerted by the Soviet government on church employees is shown. The author concludes that arrests and trials of the clergy and church workers were made for formal reasons in order to deprive parishioners of the clergy before the impending destruction of churches. The materials of the Archives FSB of the Russian Federation for the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania were used to write this work.
