Abstract

The study aims to substantiate the relevance of genre competence formation in foreign cadets when teaching the Russian language as a component of communicative competence in educational and professional communication. The paper considers the requirements of the Federal State Education Standard and the demand of the leading departments of the university when determining the relevant communicative needs of foreign cadets, analyses the available educational materials in Russian as a Foreign Language, taking into account military specifics. The genre organisation of formal military communication, universality and relevance of these genres for students of military universities are demonstrated, genre and linguistic features of formal texts of military communication are described. Scientific novelty of the study lies in substantiating the importance of the genre approach, taking into account genre standardisation of formal military communication when teaching Russian to foreign military personnel (hereinafter - FMP) for purposes of genre competence formation. As a result, the researcher has proved that a system of formal style genres, the genre particularities of which include the presence of a certain communicative goal, a strict structure and a number of fixed lexical and grammatical features, is relevant for teaching foreign cadets. This system of texts, with its genre nature and implementation within the framework of the official style, comprehensively and succinctly reflects the linguistic features of the military educational and professional discourse, which makes it possible to develop a model of military communication to the extent necessary for foreign cadets, based on the didactic principles of Russian as a foreign language teaching.
