Abstract

The paper introduces methodology of using authentic video resources to form professional foreign-language auditory competence in the sphere of international tourism and to raise students’ motivation to learn business foreign language. The article describes experience of working with video casts as authentic texts under the conditions of professional foreign-language environment. The aspects of using video casts as an informational teaching aid are revealed, their role in raising students’ motivation to learn business foreign language is substantiated. Scientific originality of the paper lies in the fact that the author justifies methodological value of video podcasts and introduces a linguo-didactic model of foreign language teaching focused on the formation of professional foreign-language auditory competence. The research findings are as follows: methodological value of video podcasts and their efficiency in and out of the classroom are shown by concrete practical material approbated during professional foreign language classes for bachelor students of “International and National Tourism” training area.
