Abstract

The research aims to substantiate theoretically and methodologically the effectiveness of using mind mapping as a viable pedagogical tool of correctional and educational work resulting in productive development of cognitive functions in preschoolers with mild mental retardation. The paper substantiates the need for special education teachers to study the essence of mental development disorders in preschool children with mild mental retardation, presents mind mapping, an effective pedagogical tool used for perception, attention, thinking, memory development in preschoolers with intellectual disabilities. An algorithm for conducting classes on working with mind mapping is described. Scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that the algorithms for the application of this pedagogical tool aimed at cognitive functions development in preschoolers with intellectual disabilities have been created. As a result, it has been proved that mind mapping considered in the research is an effective methodological tool in the work of special education teachers (oligophrenopedagogy specialists).
