Abstract

Since December 2019, an epidemic of a new coronavirus infection COVID-19 has been identified in the world. This disease is characterized by a severe course, high mortality, airborne transmission, high contagiousness. During the treatment of the disease and complications after the infection, distant complications in the organs and systems began to appear. Based on experience, the route of transmission of the virus has been proven, as well as the pathogenesis of the disease, long-term complications, in particular in ophthalmology, has been identified. When infected with SARS-CoV-2, there is a violation of blood rheology – an increase in blood coagulation (hypercoagulation), which leads to the formation of blood clots and occlusion in the vascular bed and disruption of the microvasculature.
