Abstract
The significant occurrence of a cohort of children who do not achieve complete recovery after the acute period of coronavirus infection has drawn the attention of researchers to elucidate the etiopathogenetic reasons for the lack of process termination. Objective. To study clinical-anamnestic and microbiologic parameters of fecal samples as possible predictors of the prolongation of the post-COVID state on the basis of laboratory tests performed at admission to the sanatorium at different time periods after COVID-19 infection. Patients and methods. In 61 children aged 4 to 17 years, a comprehensive clinical and laboratory investigation was performed in the rehabilitation of the post-COVID-19 condition. Results. The main complaints on admission: rapid fatigability, decreased appetite, decreased tolerance of habitual physical and mental exertion, tendency to constipation, increased frequency of episodes of acute respiratory diseases. In the microbiota of fecal excretions the reduced level of high-grade Escherichia coli, bifido- and lactobacilli was established. Inhibition of functional activity of microbiota was noted. Abnormal amount of fatty components was detected at scatoscopy. General health-improving measures promoted clinical and laboratory recovery processes. Conclusion. Commonly accepted recreational sanatorium activities contribute to the rehabilitation of children with post-COVID condition and can be recommended as a mandatory program.
