Abstract

Fractures of the forearm bones are at one of the first places among all fractures in frequency and are considered as a violation of the integrity of the bone tissue structure. Causes can be a fall on the forearm as well as a blow from a heavy object. A fracture of one or both bones of the forearm is a difficult injury to treat and restore. Trauma is relevant among both children and adults. Limb function is significantly lost, and this worsens the quality of life. The diagnosis is established based on the collected medical history, visual examination and data from instrumental examination methods (radiography). For fractures of the forearm bones, treatment tactics are determined individually. It depends on the severity of the injury. The purpose of this research is to demonstrate successful experience in treating a closed fracture of both bones of the lower third of the left forearm with displacement of fragments using extrafocal transosseous compression-distraction osteosynthesis. Materials and methods – data from the medical documentation, results of instrumental research and dynamic observation of the hospitalized patient in Traumatology Department of City Clinical Hospital. Result. As a result of treatment, consolidation of the fracture was achieved and the function of the injured limb was restored. Conclusion. When using the Ilizarov apparatus for fractures, the degree of damage to soft tissues is reduced, and the need for repeated surgery to remove the metal structure is eliminated.
