Abstract

In the article, the author examines the role of open-air museums in the context of globalization and regionalization. Globalization, destroying the boundaries between cultures, leads to their standardization, while regionalization is aimed at preserving the uniqueness of local traditions. Museums play an important role in the regionalization process. Having specific features that distinguish them from other institutions, they are able to preserve and represent the material and spiritual culture of the region, use their spatial advantages to create tourist destinations, as well as develop event tourism by organizing festivals, historical performances and other events. In addition, the use of information and communication technologies makes it possible to virtualize expositions and attract a new audience. The Tomsk Pisanitsa Museum-Reserve is a successful example of the effective use of all the above-mentioned development methods. Since its foundation, it has been actively developing, creating new exhibition complexes, organizing interesting events, using the capabilities of the virtual environment.
