Abstract

The aim of the work is to identify the representatives of the references for colour concepts ХУЖЬ (WHITE), ПЛЪЫЖЬ (RED), ГЪУЭЖЬ (YELLOW) and the features of their functioning in the Kabardino-Circassian language. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that for the first time, on the basis of theoretical and practical material, these words are subjected to a lexical-semantic analysis, their word-formation possibilities are revealed, and the history of the formation of these word-formation models is traced. The obtained results have shown that the representatives of the references for the studied models are natural and anthropomeric words. All the three models have the same morphological structure and participate in nominal word formation in the position of the second component maintaining the etymological meaning.
