Abstract

The work aims to determine the reasons for the difficulties that arise when teaching foreign students Russian narrative-descriptive monological speech with the reporting of speech situations. In this regard, the paper compares the features of natural, live speech, which includes different ways of conveying information (communication channels), and speech utterances from written sources (direct speech of characters from literary works); the issue of perception of other people’s speech and its reporting in a coherent context is considered. Scientific novelty of the study lies in developing a system of tasks aimed at overcoming the identified difficulties in teaching foreign students to report other people’s statements in monologic speech in Russian. As a result, a practical version of the organisation of teaching foreign students to report speech situations in a monologic statement and possible ways to solve the issues faced by Russian as a foreign language teachers have been proposed.
