Abstract
The Russian hip-hop music is considered as a modern tool to teach Russian as a foreign language at a higher education establishment; popularity of the audiovisual method is emphasized. For the first time, the paper proposes criteria for choosing hip-hop songs appropriate while working with foreign audience, provides a list of recommended hip-hop compositions. Within the framework of the linguistic-cultural approach, the author has developed a set of exercises on Russian as a foreign language based on the script of the domestic rap composition “Petersburg Mood”. The study addresses teachers of Russian as a foreign language, the research findings can be used while conducting additional language classes for students at the second (B2) and third (C1) language proficiency levels.
