Abstract

The purpose of the article is to identify and describe the functional potential of the lexico-semantic group “Plants” in the works of great prose by Daphne Du Maurier. The author forms a lexical and semantic group (LSG) and analyzes the structure of sememes. The study also reveals the pragmatic potential of the elements of the lexico-semantic group in the text of novels. It is shown that the tokens reveal the character of the characters, convey their emotional experiences, and also reflect the realities of social life. In addition, the specifics of the functioning of these linguistic resources in the genre of psychological detective are explained.
