Abstract

Th е current paper focuses on the Greek orthographic system, the role of phonological awareness in its acquisition and the most common orthographic errors of the Greek language made by Serbian students. The aim of the work is to investigate errors in spelling, and, in particular, in complex consonants. The empirical part involves the recording and analysis of errors in two dictation activities, which our sample performed after completing their first year of studies (level A1 to A2). We seek to understand how Serbian speakers treat a different orthographic system compared to their mother-tongue and to contribute to methodological practices that enhance correct spelling and language development .
