Abstract
he article is dedicated to Valery Kapeliushnyi, as well-known scientist and teacher in Ukraine and abroad, doctor of historical sciences, professor, member-correspondent of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, head of the Department of Ethnology and Regional Studies of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. There are highlighted the main milestones of his biography, key stages of education and formation as a scientist and teacher. It is about the most important works of the professor, his scientific interests, normative and special courses for students, management of the department and special council, honors, etc.
