Abstract

The paper aims to identify specificity of the artistic concept LOVE as an aesthetic dominant of V. Tokareva’s prose, to trace transformations of this concept by the example of the story “Beyond the River, beyond the Forest” and the novel “The Poet’s Wife”. It is shown that V. Tokareva, continuing Chekhov’s traditions, repeatedly refers to the concept LOVE. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the researcher proposes a new interpretation of this concept in the writer’s conceptual sphere. The research findings are as follows: LOVE is a dominant concept in the writer’s prose; V. Tokareva uses the bifurcation technique exchanging the personages’ roles, introducing a game element in her creative work. The researcher concludes that this problem is poorly investigated and requires further study.
