Abstract

The aim of the work is to determine the various linguistic characteristics of the text, in particular, in the author’s aspiration to facilitate the reader’s understanding of the created images and events, as well as to show the implementation of these linguistic characteristics by the material of fiction and its translations in order to reveal the essence of various forms and levels of specification, its role in achieving better understanding of the text by the reader. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the unusual choice of a novel stylized as an old chronicle as an object of detailed consideration of the linguistic and stylistic features of the text. Within the framework of this research, in the proposed approach to the study of the above issue, the novelty is the correlation with the identification of interpretations and attitudes that arise in the thinking of readers belonging to different cultures and social groups. As a result, the paper presents various interpretations of the notion of “text”; the most important features of any, in particular, artistic text are highlighted; by the material of examples taken from the indicated novel, the structural and semantic arrangement of the text is studied in detail; the specific means of artistic expression are highlighted.
