The article analyzes the content and types of scientific research work of students of higher educational institutions of Russia in the second half of the 20th century and in modern conditions; the structure of research activity of students is determined, which ensures the effectiveness of the educational process and promotes the development of professional qualities.

Главными задачами такой деятельности являлись: развитие у студентов стремления к исследованиям в области специальных дисциплин и накопления опыта этой работы; развитие у будущих специалистов творческого мышления и формирования исследовательских умений и навыков; воспитание потребности постоянно совершенствовать свои знания, расширять теоретический кругозор и научную эрудицию
Как убеждает анализ современной научно-методической литературы, в настоящее время на факультетах вузов сохранились почти все формы научноисследовательской работы студентов, которые использовались во второй половине ХХ в

Цель статьи – проанализировать содержание и виды научно-исследовательской работы студентов высших учебных заведений, структуру научно-исследовательской деятельности студентов, которая обеспечивает эффективность учебного процесса.
