Abstract
The Permanent Settlement Regulation Act of 1793 was the most significant and revolutionary change made to the Indian land and revenue system under British administration over the Indian subcontinent. Following the implementation of this Act, Indian society experienced significant turmoil. The ancient Indian social structure and customs saw significant transformations and had a wide-ranging impact. It is a wellestablished fact that writers have always been impacted by significant societal shifts. In that regard, Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay is not an outlier in terms of sociocultural transitions. This research will discuss the impacts and reactions of the permanent settlement system during the British colonial era that are mentioned in the novel Aranyak.
