In order to solve the problem, this paper proposes a wide-beam antenna design method for automotive corner radar based on improved particle swarm optimization (IPSO) algorithm. The mathematical model of comb-line antenna for 77 GHz corner radar is established and combined with the IPSO algorithm to achieve wide beam. The algorithm avoids the search process falling into local optimum by introducing an adaptive shrinkage factor and chaotic disturbance when the non-superior particle position is updated. The computational results show that the convergence of the IPSO algorithm is significantly better than standard particle swarm optimization (SPSO) in wide beam forming under the same number of iterations.

The 2024 7th International Conference on Intelligent Manufacturing and Automation (IMA 2024) took place in Changsha, China during 12th to 14th January 2024 (virtual form). The conference in this series has been held for seven sessions, and with the successful experience, great reputation, and strong organization team, IMA 2024 was even more successful than ever before. The aims of the Conference were to provide a platform for the exploration of both fundamental topics and new applications of research fields of and related to intelligent manufacturing and automation, bring different scientific communities together, and facilitate the contacts among science, technology and industry. Everyone interested in these fields were welcomed to join the online conference and to give comments and raise questions to the speeches and presentations. About 130 participants attended the Conference whose agenda included keynote speeches, oral presentations and poster contributions. During the keynote speech part, Prof. Xiaogang Liu (Wuhan University of Technology, China), Assoc. Prof. Weimin Huang (Nanyang Technological University, Singapore), Prof. Jinping Liu (Hunan Normal University, China), and Prof. Chenglin Liu (Jiangnan University, China) shared their reports respectively on Intelligent Manufacturing Framework for Key Components of Automobile Chassis, Rapid Manufacturing Anywhere, Anytime, Toward Intelligent Monitoring of Operational Conditions of Complex Processes, and Fixed-Time Consensus Tracking of Multi-Manipulator Systems under Multiple Constraints. It is really a great opportunity to promote academic communication and collaboration worldwide. This volume gathers papers from regular contributions of IMA 2024; each contribution submitted for publication has been peer reviewed and the Editors are very grateful to the referees for their careful support in helping to improve the original manuscripts. The manuscripts accepted for publication cover different topics of intelligent manufacturing and automation: Rapid Manufacturing Technologies, Mold Design and Manufacturing, Intelligent Control Technology, Automated Production Equipment Application, Automatic Control and Information Technology, etc. We would like to thank all the keynote speakers and authors for their efforts in preparing their contributions to this leading international conference. Preface

The 2023 2nd International Conference on Electronics Technology and Artificial Intelligence (ETAI 2023) took place during August 18th to 20th, 2023 in Changsha, China (hybrid form). ETAI exists as an international annual conference which tries to meet the needs for various kinds of electronics technology and artificial intelligence and has been established as a high-quality international conference.The Conference took “bringing together global wisdom in scientific innovation to promote high-quality development” as the theme. It encouraged the exchange of information on research frontiers in different fields, connected the most advanced academic resources at home and abroad, and turned research results into industrial solutions. It also promoted the development of the fields related to electronics technology and artificial intelligence, expanded the international scientific and academic exchange channels, enhanced scientific innovation on a global scale, and contributed to academic cooperation between China and the international community.The Conference was attended by about 50 participants and hosted 3 keynote speeches, several oral presentations as well as poster presentations. The 2nd ETAI covered various research fields where electronics technology and artificial intelligence are used, such as Power Electronics Technology, Integrated Circuit Design and Integrated Systems, Advanced Electromagnetics, Artificial Intelligence Modeling and Simulation, Intelligent and Artificial Intelligence Control, etc.According to all attendees, the scientific program was excellent with high level of presentations and the scientific environment was fruitful, thus all attendees had a great and creative time. Among them, Prof. Jahangir Hossain (University of Technology Sydney, Australia) first performed a keynote speech. He mainly focuses his study on areas of Power Systems, Wind Generator Integration and Stabilization, Voltage Stability, Micro Grids, Robust Control, etc. Besides, he has published more than 300 articles in international refereed journals and conferences which attracted more than 7100 citations (Google Scholar) with H-index 44. Prof. Bing Shi (Wuhan University of Technology, China), whose research fields cover artificial intelligence and multi-agent systems, also made a keynote report. With rounds of dramatic researches sharing and ideas exchanging, the Conference was made filled with strong academic atmosphere.We would like to thank our host and sponsor for providing their excellent organization and support for the needs of the Conference. The 2022 2nd International Conference on Detection Technology and Intelligence System (DTIS 2022) was successfully held during October 21st-23rd, 2022 in Tianjin, China (virtual conference). DTIS 2022 brought together scholars, researchers, and engineers in Detection Technology and Intelligence System in a shared platform to present their inspiring researches and ideas, promoting scientific information interchange and cooperation.We were greatly delighted and honored to have Prof. Wenbing Zhao from Cleveland State University, USA to serve as our Conference Chair. The conference was composed of keynote speeches, oral presentations, and online Q&A discussion, attracting 100 individuals from all over the world. Firstly, keynote speakers were each allocated 30-45 minutes to hold their speeches. Then in the oral presentations, the excellent papers we had selected were presented by their authors in sequence.During the conference, four sophisticated professors were invited to make keynote speeches. Among them, Prof. Ming Jiang from Sun Yat-sen University, China delivered a speech on Massive MIMO Beam Vector Assignment Based on Deep Learning and Location/Handover Information. And then, Prof. Wenbing Zhao from Cleveland State University, America addressed a keynote speech on the title Video-Based Baseball Pitch Type Recognition. Next, Assoc. Prof. Jun Xu from Wuhan University of Technology, China gave a report on Digital Transformation Enables Industrial Development. Last but not the least, Assoc. Prof. Gian Luca Brunetti from the Polytechnic University of Milan, Italy shared with us his research on The Quest for Integration of Detection Systems and Monitoring Systems in the Architectural Domain. All of the keynote speakers presented dramatic speeches combining their own research fields and experience, triggering heated discussion. Aluminium alloys are promising materials in EVs due to their advantages such as high specific strength, corrosion resistance and recyclability. However, forming complex-shaped thin-wall aluminium products is challenging due to their poor formability and limited dimensional accuracy. Meanwhile, recycling some of the high-strength aluminium alloys from EVs is still challenging. This review highlights some of the future potential aluminium forming techniques for EV production, including incremental sheet forming (ISF), hot forming and quenching (HFQ ® ) technique, and transverse stretching and local bending (TSLB). Also, the issues associated with aluminium recycling are listed and discussed. This review provides scientific guidance to the industry and the scientific community for advancing the applications of aluminium alloys in EVs.

Lastly, we were glad to invite Prof. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Solar Energy Research Institute (SERI) of The National University of Malaysia as our finale keynote speakers. He studied on the design and synthesis of new organic heterocyclic compounds for EL device application. Their insightful speeches had triggered heated discussion in the third session of the conference. Every participant praised this conference for disseminating useful and insightful knowledge.The proceedings are a compilation of the accepted papers and represent an interesting outcome of the conference. Charles Lieber’s conviction leaves concerns

Harvard University chemistry professor Charles M. Lieber is guilty of tax offenses and making false statements to investigators regarding working with a university in China, a jury determined Dec. 21. Many people were already questioning the value and direction of the China Initiative, the US Department of Justice program under which Lieber was investigated, and the verdict did nothing to resolve their concerns. The trial took 6 days, and the jury deliberated for less than 3 h before reaching its verdict. It convicted Lieber on all counts—two for filing fraudulent tax returns, two for failing to disclose a bank account in China, and two for making false statements. The charges centered on Lieber accepting payments from Wuhan University of Technology, allegedly as part of China’s Thousand Talents Program for recruiting scientific expertise, but not disclosing those payments to US funding agencies or the Internal Revenue Service. Digital Transformation to Advance High-Quality Development of Higher Education

Digitization will bring unlimited potential and a new vision for education, and the digitization of education is a historical process and an inevitable trend of education reform. This paper first puts forward the connotation, foundation, core of education digital transformation and the typical stages of development. Then extracts a series of practices launched in China to cope with the demand in digital transformation from four aspects: platform construction, curriculum supply, teaching methods and evaluation methods. Finally, the exploration and practice carried out by three typical universities are presented where the author has served as president, namely Central China Normal University, Xidian University and Wuhan University of Technology. The purpose is to summarize their development patterns and characteristics to provide reference for the subsequent comprehensive transformation of higher education digitalization. Overall, digital transformation will promote paradigmatic changes in higher education research and practice, build a high-quality higher education system, and promote human-centered development caring for comprehensive, holistic and personalized needs.

The Physical Fitness Level of College Students Before and After Web-Based Physical Education During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has been an emergency worldwide. Web-based physical education is a choice for college students to keep on their study. The aim of this study was to compare the data of physical fitness of college students before and after web-based physical education.Methods: All the students of 2018 and 2019 in Wuhan University of Technology who had taken the web-based physical education class in 2020 were included in this study. The records of annual physical fitness tests of all the subjects in 2019 and 2020 which were carried out in September were reviewed, including weight, height, body mass index (BMI), vital capacity (VC), 50-m dash, sit-and-reach, standing long jump, male-specific pull-ups and 1,000-m race, and female-specific sit-ups and 800-m race.Results: There were 24,112 male and 9,690 female records of physical fitness tests included in our study. The results of 11,219 male and 4,651 female students who completed both physical fitness tests in 2019 and 2020 were employed for Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Declined performance was observed on male 50-m dash by 0.1 s, male 1,000-m race by 14 s, and female 800-m race by 11 s. Notably, the percentage of male obesity, based on BMI, rose from 10.6 to 15.2% and 17.1 to 21.8% for male overweight; correspondingly, the percentage of male normal weight declined from 55.9 to 51.9% and 16.4 to 11.1% for male thinness. The trend of increasing BMI in males should be paid attention to. Improved results on vital capacity, sit-and-reach, standing long jump for both males and females, female 50-m dash, female sit-ups, and male pull-ups were observed in 2020. All the results of physical fitness tests were significantly different between 2019 and 2020 (p < 0.01) by Wilcoxon signed-rank test.Conclusions: The changes of physical fitness tests before and after web-based physical education suggested that the focus should be placed on improvement for running tests through appropriate alternatives, such as fast running in place and shuttle run. In addition, the simple, convenient, and practical sport that require available equipment and little field should be considered for web-based physical education.
