  • Dec 2, 2025
  • Economics
  • Tamar Dudauri Tamar Dudauri

In recent decades, the information and communication technologies (ICT) sector has become one of the most dynamically developing segments of the world economy, maintaining its reputation as a dynamic, continuous and prone to cardinal changes. A significant expansion of international trade in products is becoming an important trend of the world economy as a whole. Given that the state policy of Georgia in the field of information and communication technologies is being formed at a qualitatively new economic, political and social level, in the conditions of scientific and technological changes, our state has every chance to occupy high positions in the ratings of countries-leaders of the world innovation system. However, as a result of market transformations, special features of development have been formed in Georgia, which differ from both the old Soviet system and the new system borrowed from Western countries. This was expressed in the deterioration of individual indicators, for example, those that characterize the outflow of highly qualified specialists. In addition, active integration into globalization processes requires Georgia to have its own advanced technologies as an important factor in ensuring advantages in the competitive struggle. The offer of local modern technologies to the world market determines not only the dynamics of world trade, but also the level of development of the state itself. As a result, in order to solve the task set, namely, to organize the production of high-tech products for further import substitution and future entry into the world market, it is necessary to determine Georgia's promising directions and competitive advantages by identifying the peculiarities of the local information and communication technology market. Thus, information and communication technologies as a whole contribute to the implementation of coordination and commercial operations, which allows for the effective use of the advantages provided by the new information and communication environment. Information and communication technologies have become a key factor in the modernization of traditional economies, including the management methods of companies and non-profit organizations. Keywords: Information and communication technologies, Internet, development, information services market.

Factors Affecting the Export Performance of Sesame in Tanzania
  • Nov 23, 2025
  • Turkish Journal of Agriculture - Food Science and Technology
  • Leonard Amani

This paper examines the factors influencing sesame export performance in Tanzania from 1990 to 2023. It relies on secondary data sourced from the Food and Agriculture Organisation, the World Economic Indicators, and the World Bank. The study conducted two key preliminary tests, stationarity and co-integration, to assess the properties of the time series data. Based on the findings that the variables were stationary at first difference and co-integrated, the Vector Error Correction Model was employed for analysis. The results reveal that Tanzania’s Gross Domestic Product, world sesame prices, and exchange rates are the primary determinants of sesame export performance. Specifically, a one US Dollar increase in the exchange rate was associated with a US Dollar 0.036 million rise in sesame export performance. In comparison, a one US Dollar billion increase in Tanzania’s Gross Domestic Product led to declines of US Dollar 0.003 million. Similarly, a $ rise in the world price results into US Dollar 0.11 million fall. In contrast, foreign direct investment, production quantity, and trade liberalisation did not significantly impact export performance. Drawing from these findings, the study emphasises that policymakers should focus on maintaining a competitive exchange rate, promoting Gross Domestic Product growth and finding ways of increasing the bargaining power of sesame in the world market to take advantage of price rise. Furthermore, there is a need to revisit and strengthen current policies related to production, foreign direct investment, and trade liberalisation to better support export growth. More efforts are called in improving product quality, value addition to the crop, as well as improving transport and storage facilities.

THE IMPACT OF STRATEGIC FINANCIAL PLANNING ON THE LONG-TERM COMPETITIVENESS OF U.S. MANUFACTURING AND TECHNOLOGY FIRMS
  • Oct 22, 2025
  • EPRA International Journal of Economics, Business and Management Studies
  • Enoch Torgbor Obodai + 1 more

The strategic financial planning (SFP) has become prudent in determining the long-term competitiveness, especially in the U.S. manufacturing and technology firms, which have entirely relied on innovation, market share, and their resilience to achieve the sustained level of growth. Although the sector-specific financial strategy has been recognized to be an important factor, there remain gaps in the knowledge about how the financial-sector-specific strategy can be converted to longstanding competitive advantage, amidst the existing challenges experienced by fast changing technological progress, policy instability, as well as supply fluctuations that occur across the world. This paper seeks to analyze the effect of advanced financial planning mechanisms, such as capital budgeting, forecasting skill, risk management and allocation of research and development (R&D), on increasing the competitiveness of companies within the manufacturing and technology sectors. The study integrates the recent scholarly contributions and case studies and centers on how integrating “finance and strategy” maintains innovation, efficiency, and resilience. Sectoral differences are demonstrated through case studies in the automotive sector, Infosys Limited, and Apple Inc. where the manufactures focus on cost control, process-oriented budget, and capital efficiency, whereas technology-based firms are much more stretched on flexible budgets, liquidity reserves, and growth based on research and development activities. According to the findings, proper forecasting, capital allocation discipline and dynamism capabilities are consistent drivers of profitability, innovation and market extension. As an example, Apple dual strategy of maintaining R&D expenditure and liquidity retention is what defines a SFP aiming at maintaining long term innovation and shareholder value. In the same manner, auto companies become competitive with matching budgets to modernization and capacity extension. To sum it up, strong SFP can ensure innovation, resilience and sustainable growth which allows U.S. companies to obtain a leadership position and adapt to uncertainty in the world market. Keywords: Strategic Financial Planning, Manufacturing Competitiveness, and Technology Firms.

Pearl culture or pearl farming is an aquaculture method that involves the process of rearing oysters or mussels and synthesizing pearls by biomineralizing. The purpose of this review is to discuss the present situation of pearl farming, issues, and its perspective with references to the changing role of India in the world industry. It is discussed in four main dimensions, including biological, technological, economic, and environmental dimensions, which are used to give a holistic picture of the sector. China, Japan and French Polynesia have also developed large-scale, technology-intensive pearl industries and India is still in its development stage although the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) had made initial efforts in the 1970s. Although experimental trials with Pinctada fucata and freshwater mussels (Lamellidens marginalis) have been successful, lack of skills in surgical nucleation, lack of adequate infrastructure, and expensive capital requirements remain barriers to growth. The review is relevant as it gathers available literature and outlines measures to be taken to enhance the pearl farming industry in India by enhancing research, capacity building and policy support. The development of these spheres can help India to combine the concepts of sustainable aquaculture with economic growth, then it can become a new pearl player in the world market.

System of Scientific and Technological Support for Hop Growing at the Regional Level
  • Oct 13, 2025
  • Communications of International Proceedings
  • Maria L Tolstova + 1 more

In modern conditions, the domestic brewing industry largely depends on imported supplies of pelleted hops and extracts. Current volumes of hop production in the country reveal only a small share of the processing enterprise. In the context of sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation from unfriendly risk countries, a reduction in hop imports ensures favorable development of the brewing industry. The competitive position of the Russian Federation in the world market of hops and hop products depends mainly on the effectiveness of the policy and the use of reserves for increasing the volume of hop production in the country and improving its quality. This article proposes a classification of the main problems associated with the breakthrough development of the industry, ensuring purity and rapid step-by-step movement, engineering and technological support for the industry, as well as modern and personnel support for the intensification of industry processes. An important development of hop growing is the national project “Technological Support of Food Security”, recommended for launch in 2025. The development of selection and specialized mechanical engineering for the hop industry can be considered as the flagship areas of the national project implementation. All the problematic characteristics under consideration take into account the totality of challenges for the resource and technological sovereignty of the country. In this regard, the authors proposed scenario options for the development of events for each direction of hop growing intensification. The most rational seems to be the localization of all stages of hop production and processing in the Russian Federation, which allows ensuring the resource and technological sovereignty of the industry, and accordingly reducing the import dependence of domestic hop growing. An important circumstance indicating the development opportunities is the first experience of domestic brewing companies directly participating in bread production and investing in industries. Some features of the industry development are studied using the example of the lower regions of the Russian Federation, such as the Chuvash Republic and the Krasnodar Territory.Of particular importance for ensuring the intensification of hop growing is state support for promising projects in the industry. Consolidation of federal and regional forms of support allows co-financing not only all the main technologies of hop production, but also the acquisition of domestic planting material and specialized equipment.

With the increase in e-commerce centers and online communication media, firms have to adapt to a more challenging scenario where business competition is high, as well as the boisterous demands of customers. The integration of digital marketing and supply chain management provide companies with unmatched opportunities to optimize their production, improve customer satisfaction and achieve sustainable growth. On the one hand, businesses are increasingly looking at the use of blockchain and artificial intelligence, combined with data analytics, as a strategic means of achieving what can be defined as the right results in terms of work efficiency and risk minimization throughout the supply chain. Furthermore, traditional supply chain structure is changing due to the emergence of omnichannel marketing strategies as companies strive to offer omni-smooth and tailored user experiences across channels. However, this also has introduced some new challenges with this digital revolution e.g. cyber security risk, data safety problems, and need to reskill the workforce so that full potential of digital vehicles could be realised. Sky-rocketing and endless opportunities of innovations become the features of the future trend of digital marketing in supply chain management.

The EU AI Act and the challenge of protecting fundamental rights
  • Oct 1, 2025
  • Common Market Law Review
  • Marion Ho-Dac

While the Artificial Intelligence (AI) race is raging on the world market, several voices have called for effective regulation of this multifaceted technology and its ever-increasing capabilities. In this context, the European Union has recently adopted the first-ever comprehensive, binding law on AI, known as the EU AI Act. This instrument has a dual rationale. On the one hand, it is part of the European product safety policy and regulates AI systems and models placed on the internal market according to a risk-based approach. On the other hand, the AI Act makes the protection of fundamental rights against the harmful effects of AI a primary objective. Against this background, this article aims to test this hybrid rationale based on the novel concept of ‘risk (of harm) to fundamental rights’ introduced in the Act. This seems to combine the classic product safety risk-based approach with an emancipated version of the human rights-based approach which originates from the fields of development and international human rights. This article argues that, in so doing, the AI Act may shape a new ‘human rights riskbased approach’, which incorporates the protection of European public interests and extends their scope by translating them into the language of fundamental rights and values. The article explores the legal consistency and operational realization of this approach. First, it undertakes a mapping of fundamental rights’ protection in the letter of the AI Act and provides for an interpretation of its ratio legis in the light of the protection of fundamental rights’ narrative. Second, it assesses the ways in which the protection of fundamental rights could be successfully operationalized under the AI Act and makes concrete proposals to ensure the effectiveness of the fundamental rights risk-based approach in the AI context.
